COMPETITIVE SPIRITS

The air in the hallway had suddenly become very heavy, as a highly stingy Shou was shooting deathglares at the silent Miyavi, still holding Bill up against the wall. His grip had weakened slightly the moment Shou had appeared, but still Bill wasn’t able to free himself, also because he was frozen as well by the sight of the angry blonde vocalist. Still, he felt his chest inflate with relief for Shou couldn’t have come at a better time.
‘Shou...’ Bill let out breathless and immediately Miyavi stared at him as if he had completely forgotten he still had Bill in his grip.
‘Miyavi...’ Shou warned again, and this time Miyavi looked Shou up and down a couple of times as if to see he could handle him, but when he saw Shou’s fists clenching as he took a step closer to the two, Miyavi decided he was overruled. He clacked his tongue in dissaproval, murmured something that made him sound like a grumpy old cat, before he turned to Bill one last time. It looked as if he wanted to place a fitting remark, but after opening his mouth a couple of times without one coming out, he settled on his chesire cat smirk. Bill cringed slightly before Miyavi let go of his wrists, walked backwards a few steps, his eyes flashing from Shou to Bill through half lidded eyes, before turning his back on them and slugging off down the corridor as he broke into false whistling. Bill stil leaned against the wall as he watched Miyavi walking away, actually amazed he had given up so fast. He finally reacted when suddenly Shou stood before him.
‘Yuu okay? What did he do?’ Shou sounded highly worried as he scanned Bill from head to toe, his hand on Bill’s shoulder.
‘Uh... Daijoubu desu...’ Bill mumbled meekly, eyeing him back when Shou finally looked up at him, his brown eyes looking a little more relieved now. Now Bill could clearly see the dark rings under Shou’s eyes, his pale cheeks still a little flushed by his anger from just now. He didn’t look any better than when they had met the first time, he practically looked worse. He wondered if he still was sleeping so miserable, if his unwritten lyrics were still haunting him...
‘Oy,’ came Shou’s voice as he shook Bill’s shoulder slightly. He didn’t realise he had been spacing out so badly.
‘I-I’m fine Shou, thanks...’ Bill said softly as he looked back at Shou grateful. Shou raised his eyebrows for a second before he stepped back, letting out a sigh.
‘Yokatta,’ he said sincere, and Bill was relieved to see him smile. ‘I waz looking for yuu and when aye saw yuu with Miyavi-san... Aye almost thought –‘
The rest of his sentence didn’t come out and Shou looked away for a moment. Bill immediately reacted when he saw Shou’s smile dissapear and quickly said: ‘He – he didn’t do anything! Really! I just came out of the shower and I bumped into him and he – well, he did try something but he never – you showed up just in time,’ he finished with a stutter. Luckily, that made Shou’s eyes light up again. Then Bill registered what Shou had said before that.
‘Uh, you said you were looking for me? Doushite?’ Bill asked while finally detaching himself from the wall. Shou stared back at him with his large brown eyes. That had kinda slipped out. He couldn’t really tell Bill he had been looking for him because he knew Miyavi was going to make a move at him, could he?
   ‘Shou?’
‘Aye uh... Aye wanted tu ask yuu... If yuu wanted to be with Alice Nine’s bandpractise today?’ Shou tried.
‘I can?’ This time Bill was the one looking extremely happy.
‘Ah, sure!’ Shou said, smiling again for Bill’s sudden enthusiasm was very motivating. ‘Aye was on my way now so, yuu can come with me if yuu want –’ He needn’t finish his sentence for Bill was already at his side, looking like a puppy wagging its tail at his master.
‘Okay then,’ was the only thing Shou mumbled with a smile before he started walking in the direction of the studios, Bill staying closely at his side.

They walked the corridors in silence and all the while, Bill was wondering whether he should bring up yesterday. He felt like apologising to Shou for he knew he had caused him a hard time. Still, Shou acted like nothing had happened, walking next to him with his gaze at the end of the corridor, and Bill wondered whether he was lost in thought about something. But just when Bill wanted to break the silence with something, they passed the door of the first studio where some members of Kagrra had just walked out of.
Frontman Isshi had only just turned around when he saw Shou and Bill walking by, and Bill could just see him swallowing back a surprised cough. Next, a very evil smirk spread across his face as he followed Shou with his eyes, while next to him guitarists Shin and Akiya stood, looking from Shou and Bill to their frontman as if they were worried about dawning combat. It was true that Isshi looked about to spill some well placed remarks, but when Bill looked at Shou he saw that it was Shou’s extremely poisonous look at Isshi that was refraining him from commenting. The two had stopped walking for Shou and Isshi were still having their glaring-contest, and suddenly Bill saw Izumi popping his head around the door to the studio. The moment Izumi’s eyes fell on Bill he stiffened, a blush spread over his cheeks and he dissapeared again, after which Nao’s surprised face appeared. The moment Nao’s and Bill’s gazes crossed Nao did practically the same, only he bowed his head to Bill very deep before retreating too. Bill blinked his eyes for he again was caught offguard with seeing his unexpected guests to his bed, but Shou nudged him by the shoulder to clearify they were walking again. Bill let himself be coached away, holding his lips tightly together in guilt for he knew that all of the reactions they were getting were a result of yesterday’s incident.
They continued walking and this time Bill felt like the silence between them was unbearable. But again when he had just opened his mouth, Shou stopped in front of a studiodoor Bill hadn’t even seen yet and gave him a reassuring look.
‘Don’t worry, yuu are safe in here,’ he said as he pushed the door open. But immediately when Shou and Bill walked in, it became clear the scars of yesterday were visible here as well.
They were greeted with cheerful voices coming from Hiroto and Nao, but all sounds died when they saw Bill was with him. Bill looked around uneased, standing half behind Shou, as he saw Hiroto and Nao exchange surprised looks, Tora had only looked up for a brief second and was now back at tuning his guitar again, aloof, and then Bill saw bassist Saga exchanging heated glares with Shou. It didn’t make him feel any better being here at all.
The moment the two had walked in Saga had greeted Shou with his usual deathglare, a habit to him ever since Shou had returned to them yesterday. But when he saw Shou accompanied by Bill, his eyes bulged for a second before they narrowed and one corner of his mouth curled up to a smirk. Shou knew that look; it appeared every time Saga was plotting evil schemes.
‘Okay, correction,’ Shou mumbled to himself too soft for Bill to hear, ‘With ME you’re safe...’
After one last glare Saga turned his back to Shou with a low grunt, returning to his bass amp. Shou held his eyes at Saga’s back as he shut the door behind them with a louder bang than intended, making Bill jump in surprise. The tension now hanging in the room was nearly visible, and then leader Nao stood up and started giving an analysis of his own.
‘Oookay, grumpy bassist at one side...’ – he looked at Saga who ignored him – ‘Stingy singer at the other...’ – he watched how Shou passed him to put his coat on a chair with a chagrin face, ignoring his drummer as well – ‘Yup, today’s practise will be a hell of a lot of fun,’ he ended with a grin at Bill. Bill didn’t know whether he should smile back at the misschievious face of the short drummer, but did anyway, very sheepish. Nao gave him a friendly nod before he turned on his heels and passed the silent Tora on his way to where Saga stood.
‘Oy, Saga ‘‘saigon denei-san’’,’ Nao cooed the moment he stood next to him, ‘You could consider being a little nicer during practise today, we have a guest now ya know.’
Saga had snapped his head up to Nao the moment he heard himself being called by Nao’s favourite petname. He gave Nao a glare before he returned to fumbling with the buttons on his amp.
‘What are you meddling with - and stop calling me a carrot!’ he growled. Nao only smiled sweetly back.
‘It still suits you so well...’ he sighed teasingly before he walked back to his drumkit, ignoring Saga’s eyes burning in his back.
‘Haii minna, practise begins!’ Nao called as he sat down behind his drums and clacked his drumsticks together to get everyone riled up. Tora stood up from his chair and stretched his muscles, before he secured the bond on his guitar and hoisted it over his head. Hiroto was already standing in place, looking quite anxious to begin. When also Saga had his bass ready but remained at the side with a sour face, Nao pointed with his sticks for Bill to take a chair and then all eyes were upon Shou. Their vocalist had just taken a sip out of a waterbottle and the ‘gulp’ when he swallowed the liquid was to be heard clearly in the silence.
Here it was. The moment he hated so bad. The moment where he would have to dissapoint them again.
‘Well frontman,’ Nao said, leaning forward over his drums, ‘Which song are we going to play first?’ Also Bill was looking from the different bandmembers to Shou, wondering why Shou wasn’t answering immediately. Then, he understood.
‘Ya know, I feel like going over Velvet one more time –‘ Shou started.
‘Oh for fuck’s sake! Not those lame excuses again!’
Saga had vented his frustration out at Shou in a shout, causing everyone else in the room to look at him. Then Saga continued with his same raised voice, prying a finger at Shou agressivly.
‘You’ve let us play our old songs for a week now! We fucking know those! What we’re waiting for is working on our new material, but we can’t, for SOME person is being a total sloth and can’t even write us proper lyrics –!’ All of Saga’s words sounded as if he had surpressed them for too long, and they were now finally let out.
Bill and Hiroto looked about equally worried as they watched Shou taking a step in Saga’s direction, the bottle of water clenched tightly in his hand. Nao was looking down at his lap, sighing sadly as if he had prospected this to happen and Tora was only moving his eyes between the two angry members, his body relaxed but ready to strike when needed.
‘What did you say?’ Shou said with a slightly shaking voice, still coming closer to Saga.
‘Did I stutter?’ Saga bounced back as his hand gripped tightly onto the tip of his bass.
‘You know, I’d shut up if I were you.’
‘Oeh, scary. Suddenly acting tough in front of your pet?’ Saga’s eyes flashed over to Bill and that was the moment Nao suddenly jumped inbetween them, for Shou was about to throw his waterbottle at Saga and Saga seemed ready to defend himself with everything he had in reach.
‘That’s enough you two, enough!’ Nao called out dangerously, even with his short statue impressive enough to make Saga and Shou back away. Tora had been standing ready to intervene as well, only Nao had beat him to it. Meanwhile, Bill had shoved his chair back against the wall and felt like moping into total guilt, feeling he just had something to do with this outburst for Saga had looked at him a second, and Hiroto had covered his eyes and ears for he hated everything related to violence.
The tension lasted another second before Saga laid one last resentful look on Shou and turned away, kicking his bass amp to vent some more of his anger out. Shou turned his back to him as well, slamming the bottle down onto the table too hard for it toppled over and rolled away over the floor.
‘Better,’ Nao said calmly but strict. ‘Still, we really need to have a talk now, Shou.’
‘Whatever,’ Shou grumbled but he did walk straight into the direction of the door, waiting in the doorway for his leader to follow. Nao walked after him but before they left, he exchanged a meaningful glance with Tora. The darkhaired guitarist only nodded courtly in return. Nao closed the door and Tora’s eyes traveled from Saga, still standing at the side moping to himself, to Bill sitting silently at his left.
Ofcourse, if something needs to be protected, call in the tiger, he thought slightly amused.

‘Nao-san, I’m really sorry, I just –!’ Shou immediately took off when Nao closed the door.
‘It’s fine, it’s fine. Calm down a bit first,’ Nao said reassuringly as he pinched Shou’s shoulder in his brotherly fashion.
‘Demo –!’ But then Shou was silenced again by Nao’s finger over his lips.
‘You may tell me every excuse you want, but first you gotta calm down, I told you.’ Nao’s eyes looked at him calm and collected, the look of the adult he was but who he rarely showed. Shou felt himself be calmed by these eyes he knew, and let out a deep sigh.
‘Good. Let’s take a walk,’ Nao said with a wink, and the two took a turn into the left hallway.

After about 10 minutes of silence, the scene in Alice Nine’s studio hadn’t changed a lot. Tora had gone back to his chair, his eyes traveling over everyone in the room as a silent guardian. Hiroto had sat down against the wall with his guitar in his lap, running his fingers over the strings with his head in the clouds, and Saga had taken on the annoying habit of walking constant circles on his half of the studio.
‘Saga, you’re making me dizzy, sit down,’ Tora finally spoke up when he couldn’t take it anymore.
‘Mind your own business,’ Saga growled in reply, but as he turned he suddenly spotted something that really quirked his interest.
Apparantly Bill had found something too to distract himself, and that object was a mirror. For numerous times now his fingers had picked up a few strands of his energyless black hair, lifting them up and he watched how they fell back against his face without standing to the sides as he was used too. He sighed depressed and poked around the lines of his eyes that were lacking eyeliner and his cheeks that were missing foundation. Geez, did he look unhappy.
The corner of Saga’s mouth curled up to a smirk again as he started making his way across the studio, straight at the unsuspecting Bill. The moment he passed Tora the guitarist shot him a warning glare, but Saga ignored everything around him till he was standing right behind Bill.
   ‘Boo.’
Saga had merely puffed some air in Bill’s ear playfully but the teen nearly toppled sidewards out of his chair with a yelp. Saga quickly grabbed him by the shoulder and pushed him back in his chair.
‘Oy oy, noo panicku,’ he said in very overpronounced English, looking Bill’s reflection in the eyes that was staring at him flustered, as Saga still had his hands on his shoulders and his face was right next to Bill’s.
‘Anou... Yuu want this?’ With a broad smile, Saga held up a can of hairspray in front of Bill’s face. Bill’s eyes immediately widened with interest.
‘I take that as a yes.’ Saga grinned and kicked Bill’s chair from underneath him, holding him up by his shoulder and started to coach Bill to a door in the right wall of the studio.
‘Saga...!’ said Tora’s dark voice behind them and Saga only turned around to shoot him a glare, not letting go of Bill.
‘I’m only gonna do his hair.’
With that, he nudged a slightly nervous Bill into their make-up studio and closed the door behind him.

   ‘Feeling better?’
   ‘...’
Shou rolled his empty cup of Starbucks coffee around in his hands, staring at the ground in thought. Nao and he were sitting on a bench outside of the PSC building, after Nao had insisted on getting coffee from Starbucks. ‘Everything is easier discussed over coffee’ was his motto. It was true that Shou had poured out his worries to Nao, most of them. The most frustrating thing was still that he was unable to name a reason for his lack of inspiration.
While Shou was staring at the ground, Nao was looking up at the clouds, wiggling his legs over the edge of the bench while a soft breeze flowed through their hairs.
‘Shou, I understand your troubles but... You know I can’t persuade Yamada-san to cancel that performance. It is our promotion for the upcoming album, ya know –’
‘I know,’ Shou said in the icy tone of someone who was accepting his deathsentence. Nao smiled compassionetely. ‘Come on, it’s still two weeks from now.’
‘You say that as if it’s a good thing.’
‘Aww, cheer up and look at the bright side -!’
‘- What if there is no bright side for me?!’ Shou spat out as he threw his empty cup down on the ground. As it rolled away over the stones rattling, Shou took a deep breath through his nose and hung his head.
‘...I’m sorry I yelled, Nao-san, but – Two weeks... Only two weeks... What if I still haven’t written anything then... I’m scared, Nao...’
Nao watched silently how Shou’s shoulders started to tremble, before he shoved himself closer to his vocalist and wrapped his arm around him.
‘Oy, the day is too pretty for tears,’ he mumbled soothingly as he shook Shou’s shoulder gently, resting his head against Shou’s. Shou replied with a sob disguised as a cough, whiping his nose and eyes before he managed to put up a feeble smile.
‘That’s better. You’ll be fine,’ Nao smiled, patting Shou’s back before he stood up from the bench. ‘Let’s go, ne? We’ve let the others wait for long enough now.’
Shou nodded and got up too, about to walk after his leader when Nao suddenly turned around with a coyly smirk.
‘Ne, maybe you should spend some more time with the kid. He looks, ‘inspirational’ to me... Dja, ikuzou!’ Nao turned around again.
As Nao started walking back to the PSC building Shou looked after him baffled.

Childhoodfriends... It’s scary how they sometimes seem to read your mind.

‘Djan djaa~n! What yuu think?’ Saga cooed as he turned Bill’s chair around to the giant mirror, enabling him to admire himself.
Silently Bill touched his black locks that were stiff with hairspray again, but Saga had styled his hair a little more preserved with some locks over his right eye, something he hadn’t had since years ago, plus some interesting ornaments thrown in for good measure, as it seemed. Above Bill’s leftear a sparkling emerald hairclip decorated that side of his face, and Bill looked astounded to see how well it matched with the green letters on Takeru’s shirt. Further more, his make-up was also quite different. Though a little clumsy, for Saga had insisted on doing it for him, he now wore eyeliner and eyeshadow applied in such a way that somehow made his eyes look bigger, and he understood that that was the trick behind the photoshoots and PV’s for the members here. It looked kinda neat, he caught himself thinking.
‘Ne, yuu like?’ Saga prodded for an answer, standing behind him with his hands resting on the back of Bill’s chair. Bill slowly nodded, as a smile crept up his face as he couldn’t help but look at himself longer in the mirror, glad to be a bit like his familiair self again. Counting out the pink shirt that was.
‘Hnh, good. Aye’m glad yuu like.’ The smirk had returned to Saga’s face while Bill was still looking in the mirror, and suddenly his chair wheeled around again after which Bill found himself face to face with the blonde bassist.
‘Will yuu... thank me?’ Saga whispered with his devilish smile. Bill gulped and leaned as far back as he could in his chair, noticing how handsome Saga’s face was and how fair his skin, but he didn’t need to see it so close to him.
‘Uhm, doomo arigatou gozaimashita...?’ Bill murmured hastily, but Saga only smiled adored, and then he turned his cheek to Bill as he tapped his finger against it, eyeing Bill with half lidded eyes.
Tha hell? Is this guy expecting a kiss as well? Bill thought bewildered. On the cheek, but... Still -!
‘Yuu understand?’ Saga’s breath ghosted over his face as he turned more fully to Bill again. ‘Djust wan kissu. ‘ere...’ His slender finger now rested against Bill’s cheek. ‘Must aye instruct...?’ Saga leaned in and Bill closed his eyes in a reflex – but never felt Saga’s lips for the silence in the room was suddenly broken harshly by a shredding guitarsound.
Saga jerked up straight and looked in the direction of the door disturbed, while Bill first pushed his chair away from Saga and then turned to watch, seeing Tora leaning against the doorpost with his guitar in position, looking straight at Saga with narrowed eyes but also a slightly triumphing smirk.
Saga immediately growled and stepped to the door, stopping right in front of Tora.
‘Didn’t I tell you to mind your own business? ‘ the bassist scolded at him.
‘I would gladly,’ Tora replied level, ‘If only the kid hadn’t been directed to my business and I can’t allow you to do as you please with him.’
Saga gave him a deathglare, called ‘Jerk!’ and dissapeared out of the door. Tora watched him walking away with his triumphing smirk, before he turned back to Bill still sitting in his chair.
‘You okay?’ Tora asked casually, walking into the room a bit further. Bill reacted with a faint nod, it occuring to him how the guitarist seemed to manage speaking English without the usual heavy accent. But before any of them could speak again, suddenly a person was pushed into the room after which the door slammed shut, and Bill jumped out of his chair in alarm. Yet, the person wasn’t Saga, it was the youngest guitarist Hiroto.
Hiroto looked into the room highly uneased, and when his eyes rested on Bill for a second, he gulped and went to stand close to Tora, hiding half behind him.
‘Pon, what the hell are you doing?’ Tora asked.
‘It wasn’t me, it was Saga!’ came Hiroto’s timed voice from behind his back. ‘He was complaining all about you and – I only asked him what was wrong and then he – he wants me to hit on that guy too!’ the young guitarist blurted out, extracting himself from Bill’s sight completely.
‘That guy...’ Tora sighed exhausted. ‘He doesn’t deserve me going easy on him... But hey,’ he continued with a returning smirk, ‘Don’t you want a boyfriend then?’
Hiroto looked up at him with the most desparate facial expression. ‘I don’t want a boyfriend! Plus, that guy, have you seen how tall he is?!’ Hiroto cast a quick glance past Tora’s figure to Bill, before hiding again. ‘He’s too tall... He scares me...’
Tora couldn’t surpress a chuckle, ruffling through Hiroto’s hair with his knuckles. ‘Silly pon. The kid is probably nicer then you think,’ he added with a slight smile at Bill too, who was eyeing the couple utterly confused.
‘Itai! That hurts!’ Hiroto whined, stepping away from Tora. Then, when Hiroto’s eyes also rested on him curiously, Bill couldn’t take it anymore.
‘Anou, sumimasen, but I’m gonna look for Shou,’ he said as he went straight for the door and walked out, ignoring Tora’s surprised: ‘Oy, chotto -!’
Bill immediately walked out of Alice Nine’s studio too, not seeing Saga anywhere, and looked down the hallways, wondering where Shou and Nao could have gone.
He cursed in himself. Why was he continuously caught up in this freak show? And why couldn’t he just be with Shou?
‘I wanna see him dammit!’ he cursed in his own language, walking into a random hallway, where all of a sudden his arm was grabbed hold of.
‘Shou-?’ was the first that came to his mind but the unknown person covered his mouth with his hand and for the second time that day, Bill found himself pinned up against a wall by a person that couldn’t be more different from Shou.
‘Ssssh,’ Miyavi hushed him as his hand smothered every sound coming from Bill, his flat hand pushing against Bill’s chest. ‘No need to scuream...’
Bill didn’t experience that as very comforting. He started struggling against Miyavi’s grip but the other vocalist was stronger. Still, Miyavi kept making hushing sounds and when he finally caught Bill’s eye, Bill saw that his expression was different from before. This time, Miyavi looked more serious, almost sincere, and slowly Bill gave up, looking back at Miyavi with wide-open eyes.
Miyavi seemed relieved that he had stopped struggling and started talking in a husky whisper, as if he wanted nobody to hear them. ‘Aye am really really sorry ‘bout before, honto ni! Aye want tu make up, okay desu? Aye was very stupid, baka yo ne, sou ne. So aye will make up, iie desu yo?’
Bill could hardly collect what he was hearing but found himself slowly nodding, caught off guard by Miyavi’s sudden politeness, if you could call it that way. A smile formed on Miyavi’s lips and his eyes started shining again, after which he uncovered Bill’s mouth, whispered ‘Sanquu!’ and then started dragging Bill with him down the hallway by his arm.
‘Woah, chotto~! Where are you taking me?’ Bill called out, staggering behind Miyavi.
‘Tu my car. We can djust see a movie beforu the bars open,’ Miyavi replied casually. Bill stared at the back of the older vocalist’s head numbstruck. What had he landed himself in this time?
‘B-but, I can’t! I got to find Shou!’ Bill tried to release himself, his heels scraping over the floor, but Miyavi was holding an iron grip on his arm.
‘Iie gomen ne, but a date is for two people,’ Miyavi said with a wink over his shoulder, holding up two fingers for Bill.
Date? With this guy? No way!!
At the end of the hall the elevators came in sight, and Bill was still fighting for freedom. He knew that if those elevatordoors would close behind them, he was done for. He felt tempted to scream Shou’s name through all of PSC.
‘Going down~,’ Miyavi hummed cheerfully as he pressed the button on the elevator - Bill felt sweat running over his temple – but just when Miyavi wanted to coach him inside, they heard a voice behind them.
‘Where do you think you’re going with him, Meev?’
Miyavi froze in the spot as Bill looked around at his saviour – but wasn’t sure if he should be really happy when he saw Ruki standing behind them, arms crossed and wearing an amused smirk.
‘Hi Ruki-san,’ Miyavi said with a smile but it couldn’t have been more faked. Bill tried an attempt of breaking free again but it was in vain. Ruki raised his eyebrows.
‘Hmm, is it just me or does the kid look a little... unhappy?’
This could have been the start of a very long discussion, but clearly Miyavi didn’t have the patience for it.
‘Look,’ he scolded at Ruki, tightening his grip on Bill’s arm which made Bill hiss in pain, ‘I’m taking the kid out on a date. Some barhopping perhaps. And you are not going to spoil that for me.’
‘Really now?’ Ruki looked highly amused while Miyavi only looked more poisonous.
‘And you can’t come with us!’
   ‘Can’t I?’
‘No!’ Miyavi wanted to turn his back on Ruki but the small vocalist wasn’t laid off that easily.
‘A shame, since I was already feeling like hitting the bars tonight...’ Ruki sighed.
Miyavi turned around ever so slowly, Bill still limping faintly at his side. ‘What do you want?’ he scolded with the look of deepest hate at Ruki.
‘You may choose Miya: or you take me with you, or I feel myself tempted to call everyone up and make this evening a bash for everyone of PS...’ As he talked his eyes scanned Bill from top down, making Bill shrudder immediately.
‘Fine,’ was the only thing Miyavi growled before he pressed the elevator button again. Ruki’s smile broadened as he walked up to Miyavi and Bill, but just as the elevatordoors opened, again a voice interrupted the moment.
‘Ooh, I didn’t think so!’ Suddenly, there was the rest of GazettE standing in the hall, an angry looking Kai up front.
While Miyavi looked irritated to the bone, Ruki actually looked terrified for a moment before he recovered slightly. Bill slightly got his hopes back when he saw Kai; he knew that at least the drummer showed him true friendliness.
‘That is the last time you’re sneaking out during practise,’ Kai scolded at Ruki with a near psychotic gleam in his eyes, as he seemed ready to drag Ruki away by his collar. But then Uruha suddenly said: ‘So~, barhopping huh?’
   ‘Sounds great!’ Aoi added.
‘I’m in,’ said Reita, and before the others could fully register it, Aoi, Uruha and Reita had shoved Miyavi, Ruki and Bill into the elevator with them, and were now looking back at Kai.
‘Come on Kai-chan, barhopping!’ Uruha called utterly cheery.
Bill and Kai were sharing about the same petrified expression now. Kai looked undeciding for a moment, then covered his eyes with his hand, groaned, and slumped into the elevator too. Aoi, Reita and Uruha cheered in unison and finally the doors to the elavator shut.
Bill stared in the open as the elevator started going down. This was all a little unexpected. He looked to his left and saw how Miyavi was leaning back against the elevatorwall ultimately annoyed, for he knew his original plans had all gone up in smoke. Ruki was standing not far away from him, also looking pretty bummed. Bill couldn’t supress a tiny smirk, as happy as he could be while standing in an elevator with these guys. Still, he wondered whether he would find Shou in time.
A bell sounded and the elevatordoors slid open, reveiling the entrancehall. GazettE’s cheery trio walked out first, followed by a silent Kai and Ruki, after which Miyavi took hold of Bill’s wrist again, less tight than before, and walked after the lot as well.
‘Hmpf, maybe, I still have a chance...’ Miyavi mumbled to himself.
   ‘Wha-? For Heaven’s sake! MIYAVI~!!’
Immediately Miyavi let go of Bill again as he cast his eyes to the ceiling. ‘There, chance gone,’ he muttered bitterly as Shou came walking up to them, followed by Nao. Bill’s eyes brightened up immediately.
‘I thought I told you to leave him alone, didn’t I?’ Shou shouted as he stood before Miyavi, ignoring anything else around them. Miyavi glared at him unimpressed, before he raised his hands defensively. ‘No sweat Shou-kun. He’s all yours to protect,’ he said with a mocking tone. ‘As if I could hit on him when we’re in a bar with so many people...’
‘Huh?’ Shou was caught off guard by this argument, but Nao quickly covered for him.
‘Ahhh, a barnight huh? Sou da ne, that’s a good idea! Imagine, our guest is here longer than a week now and we haven’t even shown him around Tokyo yet? What horrible hosts we are!’ Nao covered his eyes in a dramaqueen pose. Now everyone was looking at Nao awkwardly, but Nao only grinned in his playful way and switched to talking his sloppy English, to tell Bill ‘his’ idea.
When Nao had explained, Bill actually found it sounding rather tempting. Hitting the bars of Tokyo, tasting the nightlife here... It was something he was indeed curious about. And now in the company of Shou, what could go wrong?
‘Arre, didn’t know we had a meeting here?’ sounded a surprised voice coming from the entrance. GazettE, Miyavi and the three others turned around to see SuG walking up to them, apparantly just returning from an interview or photoshoot at location. Takeru was walking up front, looking around curiously. When he saw Bill, he flashed a quick smile at him.
‘It’s not really a meeting, but you’re not far off,’ Aoi said with a smile at his kohais. Takeru looked up at him questioningly.
‘We’re just planning on hitting the bars tonight, it’ll be fun.’
‘Uwaa~ sugoii! Everyone?’ Takeru’s eyes traveled through the room again, passing Bill several times.
‘Yes, everyone! And we’ll all have a super duper great time!’ Miyavi suddenly called out as he walked past Takeru, and he couldn’t have sounded more sarcastic. Takeru watched him with a raised eyebrow.
‘Don’t mind him,’ Bill whispered at him and Takeru gave him a broad smile in return.
   ‘Well then, let’s go!’
   ‘Yaay, let’s get drinking!’
   ‘Me too!’
‘No Takeru, you’re not 22 yet. No sake for you.’
‘Awww come on you guys! Please...? Just one glass!’

To be continued

That was a lot of fun and disturbing at the same time: it was interesting to have Bill in the middle of so many egos but a shame they hit on him so much in the first place.
What does "MYV" mean?
